-A Revelation of How to Give Without Discomfort

“He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” – Romans 8:32 AMPC

The day that I realized that I am truly united with Christ and that His character is my character, that the Holy Spirit who lives in me places His heart desire in my heart, that became a revelation for me in every area...including my giving. My new, born-again nature is just like my Lord and Savior, therefore I come by giving naturally. It is in my spiritual DNA. What a revelation! This is what we’re going to explore in this writing.

Like so many who grew up in church, giving was a responsibility. I was taught and believed that it was my duty as a Christian. I’d heard that if I didn’t give, God couldn’t and wouldn’t bless me. This became a source of grief and sometimes condemnation. When the offering bucket came around, it was drudgery. Giving was like pulling the hairs of my guilty conscience. When our bank account was low and our needs were great, it was painful. When our bank account was high, I wanted to save, hoard, or protect what we finally had, which meant that giving was still painful. Needless to say, I was almost never a cheerful giver, and God loves a cheerful giver.

“Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving].” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 AMPC

Do you know why God loves a cheerful, happy, joyous giver? It is because that is the kind of giver that He is. God loves to give and it makes Him happy doing so. This is what delights His heart of love. Love always gives!

We are going to explore a lot about our God in this writing, and through the other articles that will be listed on our “Giving” page. God wants us to know and understand just how detailed of a giver that He really is. He is calculated and specific in His giving, but He is also radical and excessive. What an awesome, extravagant, giving God He is! Let us discover Him...

My Friends, our gracious God is not a “withholder!” If He was willing to give us the best that He had, the most important person in His existence, why would He ever withhold anything of lesser value to Him than Jesus? Our God is a free and gracious giver! We need to come to know this side of our God in a much more personal and intimate way, if we are ever going to understand who He has created us to be.

With all of that being said, we hope that you will frequent this area of our website often. This will be a place for us to get to know the character and heart of our God on a much deeper level. We are not writing these truths about God and giving, so you will be coerced into giving to our specific ministries, although that would certainly bless us and allow us to continue in our God-given assignments, unhindered. Our true desire in creating this part of our website, is so we can all learn to be free from the giving manipulation and condemnation that is often found in religious circles. We all want be released into the true Spirit of giving that resides on the inside of our born-again spirits.

I woke up one morning with a very clear vision of a page that had never existed on our website before. In all the years that we have provided teaching on this website, we have never put up a “Giving” button or page, and yet, there was a very clear vision of what God wanted us to do. I could not deny it. Knowing that ministries need supporters and partners to really get the work of the Kingdom done in this earth, we still never felt comfortable in the asking, nor did we know how to get started receiving support, even though we knew it was biblical and necessary. So much embarrassing abuse has been uncovered in this area in the church body, that we wanted to be sure we were doing things God’s way. The best way to do anything is to learn God’s heart on the matter, so we went to His Word to study His heart. We are still learning and hearing from the Lord for some specifics, but at least some the mystery was taken out of the way in one vision from the Lord.

This was our assignment: We were to create a place where people could sow their seeds into the soil of this ministry by His cheerful leading, yes; but more importantly, we were to provide teaching to help the body of Christ learn and discern how to hear His voice in regard to cheerful giving, wherever and however He leads.

It is important to have revelation and discernment regarding giving, especially as we are being plunged into this pre-tribulation period of great deception and manipulation. The Lord wants to direct us by His Spirit to give into true Kingdom work, and not spoil His resources supporting works that are not of Him. Sowing into poor soil, just causes the seed to die, and results in no harvest for the sower or the reaper. This is not what God wants for His resources which He has entrusted us with. God is always looking for a good harvest for us and for His Kingdom, so we’d better know where to sow.

This new Giving Page will primarily be a place of teaching, just as the rest of the site is, and if the Lord leads you, you can help this ministry grow and expand as well, with no coercing and no pressure. Even if you never give to this ministry, we want you to visit here often just to learn, to be encouraged, and to grow in the revelation knowledge of the Graceful Giver that lives inside of you, and how you can open your heart to all that He wants to give through you, no matter where or how you give.

We pray that these teaching articles and devotions really bless and equip you in the coming days. We encourage you to come back often to learn from the new teachings we will continue posting. His truth sets us free, and these truths are constantly giving revelation to me, and helping me to let Christ be formed in me. I want to keep learning how to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to have free access to my heart in regard to our unified giving...the Holy Spirit and me, together! We know this is your desire, too.

So, let’s get started on this first and best revelation of all:

“Giving...We come by it naturally!”

Have you ever heard these words spoken about you? “Oh, she comes by that naturally!” Or, “He gets that from his mother’s side of the family.” Hopefully, if you’ve heard that statement, it is describing a good character trait or ability. When it came to my cooking style, I’d hear… “Oh, she comes by that naturally!” That was my grandmother’s way of identifying her happy and proud character traits and habits from the kitchen, with the things that I learned or developed from spending oodles of time with her there. “Yep, she gets that from me!” This is the positive side of identification with someone that you are very much like in character, habits and abilities. When it comes to my daughter Kaylee, (the one who does all of the hard work of making this website look amazing), we see her creativity and mind for technology, and we say, “She’s just like her dad!”

We inherit or adopt so much of who we are and how we behave, by who we came from or those we’ve spent a lot of time with. Unfortunately, we can also inherit or develop negative traits or habits too. Ultimately, all negative things originated from the fall of Adam; humanity’s first parent. We’ll touch on that a little later.

To truly understand who we were really meant to be, we must go all the way back to the Creation and hear the heart of the Godhead as it involved us…

“Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.”

So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

So God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of the entire earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

and to all the animals on the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that moves on the ground—to everything in which there is the breath of life—I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so [because He commanded it].

God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good and He validated it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.” – Genesis 1:26-31 AMP

This is simply amazing, and we are going to dissect it a bit!

Mankind, both men and women, were created to be just like the One who created them; in character, heart and personality. They were created in divine righteousness and made to function just like God, and to fellowship with Him in the same perfect unity that the Father had with the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I really want you to see just how much God gave in this one incredible passage of Scripture. Let’s discover this amazing grace…

First, He created mankind to be in His exact likeness and perfect image. (v. 26-27) So, the first gift God gave, according to this passage, was His image or likeness; the image of the unified Godhead. Mankind was meant to be an exact representation of God, in every aspect of His divine character, heart and personality. “So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.” We see here, that the only two genders that God ever created were made intentionally to reflect God in the earth. Yes, we were originally made to be an exact representation of God. Hold on to that thought, because we will need to come back to it.

The second thing we discover, is that God gave to man the earth and everything He created in it. (v. 26) Notice also in the Psalms it declares...

“The heavens are the heavens of the Lord,But the earth He has given to the sons of mankind.” – Psalm 115:16 NASB

By giving man the earth, He gave His authority to man, so he could rule and reign with power over every created thing. So, man received God’s likeness in the authority and dominion that was given. It is interesting to note that mankind had not even been proven in character or obedience when God entrusted the earth, and everything He created in it, to them. God is a gracious and extraordinary giver.

The next thing we see that God gave to mankind was the ability to create. (v. 29) God created everything up to this point, but gave the man and the woman together the ability to create family and populate the earth that was given to them. This is what God calls being “fruitful” and multiplying. They were given the ability as a man and his wife to become as one flesh and creatively multiply themselves. You will notice that man alone did not have this ability until God took one of Adam’s bones and formed his wife from this bone, to give him a partner that was suitable for him. (Genesis 2:18-25) This was the only partner suitable for him… the woman made from his own flesh. It was only through this union that Adam was able to create or multiply.

There is no unity or ability to create or multiply in God’s created Creation without one male cleaving to one female. God was pretty specific in His creation and things just don’t work right without His created order. If this is a revelatory word to you, I pray that you receive it. You were created by God as either a biological male or a biological female for the purpose of reflecting God as a creator by coming together with a member of the opposite sex in united marriage to create and multiply. You were created to give the creative gift of life to another person or persons. How cool is that!!! Deviations from God’s intended plan for a man and a woman only bring harm to His created order, not blessing. Creation itself cannot deny the truth of this. Man cannot create with man, machine or animal. For a man and his wife to be able to create like God is both a gift and a blessing. God could have created every intended creature or person without our cooperation, but He loves to give and this ability to create was one of His gifts. What an awesome God!

The fourth thing that we see in this passage of Scripture, is that God gave the blessing of food to mankind and to all of the animals. (v. 29-30) When God created the earth, He thought of everything. Even before He created mankind, He made certain that we would be provided for in regard to life sustaining provisions for our bodies. I love food, so praise God...what a gift. God is so generous!

Now, there is one more incredible thing that God gave, way back even before the creation of mankind. This is so amazing, that we could come up short of the revelation of this, and we don’t want to miss this truth. Let’s look carefully at it…

“Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ,

just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love

He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—

to the praise of His glorious grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved [His Son, Jesus Christ].” – Ephesians 1:3-6 AMP

Now, pay attention here! Even before the foundation of the world… Yes, before our world was created and everything in it, before mankind was created, God gave to us His Son. For what purpose was He given to us? For the purpose that we would be blessed in His Son; for the purpose of setting us apart and making us holy and blameless in His Son; for the purpose of adopting us as His own children in His Son; for the redemption that we would all need, and so that we could live in abundant life through Him, after we believed. (1 John 4:9)

His image and likeness are awesome. His authority and dominion over the earth is amazing. His creative nature is great, and food...well food is just an incredible blessing. And yet, God saw fit to give us the most important thing we would ever need, before He ever created us, before we ever fell into temptation and sin. He knew everything we would ever need long before we would ever need it. He knew that we would need Jesus, and He was prepared to give Him to us. (Matthew 6:8)

With everything that God gave to mankind through the Creation, why would it be so important for Him to give us His Son? God knew that one of His angels who had fallen into disobedience, would come and drag humanity into sin, which would be the cause of our death and separation from our Creator. So jealous of the authority given to man over the earth, Satan (Lucifer) knew that by tempting man to sin, he could usurp that authority and take dominion. However, our Creator God had always been aware of our enemy’s plot, and He prepared for our salvation long before it was ever needed. God knew that we would need a substitute to bear the penalty of the death humanity deserved because of sin, so He gave us His Son, Jesus! This is our amazing, loving, giving Heavenly Father.

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.

Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him].” – John 3:16-18 AMP

Amazing!!! God had the foreknowledge that there would be a need for redemption, so God gave His only begotten Son as a sacrifice before mankind was ever created, long before we ever sinned. He loved us that much, that He knew we would need Jesus. We are told in Revelation 13:8 that Jesus was “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” The giving of His Son as a sacrifice for our sins was in the Father’s heart long before our creation, and our fall. This is the “good news” that we call the Gospel. God is the greatest giver that has ever given.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 AMP

“For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;

not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].” – Ephesians 2:8-9 AMP

“Now thanks be to God for His indescribable gift [which is precious beyond words]!” – 2 Corinthians 9:15 AMP

My Friend, if this is the very first time that you have heard such good news, I am so excited for you, and I want to encourage you to believe it. Before God ever created you, He desired that you would enter His family of children through your faith in what His Son did to pay the price for your sin. You are not a sinner just because you sin. You were born with a sin nature, because of the first man Adam’s sin. The only way that nature can be changed, is through faith in what the perfect Son of God did for you in dying on a cruel cross to pay your sin debt. The wages of sin was death, but not the “ceasing to exist” idea of death, which people often think of. This death is eternal separation from God, and all things blessed, pleasant and good. It is the eternal destination of punishment and unending torment for the unrepentant soul. This place was originally designed for the devil and his rebellious angels... the place called Hell. God never wanted you to end up there, or be separated from Him, His love, and His blessings. This is why He gave the greatest gift He could ever give… His Son!

My Friend, let us remember that gifts must be accepted and received, so if you have never accepted God, the Father’s precious gift of His Son as your Savior and Lord, I would like to show you how you can receive this precious and necessary gift, right now. God makes it so easy. Just follow the instructions in this verse of Scripture…

“...The Word (God’s message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word (the message, the basis and object) of faith which we preach,

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed.

[No one] for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all [of us] and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him [in faith].

For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.” – Romans 10:8-13 AMPC

Can you see it? God is such a generous giver, and He has made salvation from sin and eternal punishment so easy to receive. It is easy enough that even a child can receive the gift. It is as simple as letting your heart believe in what Jesus did for you and then confessing what you believe. The promise: salvation from sin, punishment and eternal damnation, but that is not all. We are promised no shame or disappointment, and we are also promised all of God the Father’s bestowed blessings and riches. I’d say that is a pretty good deal!

If you just made a decision to believe in Jesus Christ and receive Him as your Lord and Savior, we just want to say… Hallelujah, and welcome to the family of God. Your spirit just came alive in Jesus and you have been born again of His Spirit, plus you are now blessed with every spiritual blessing in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:3-6) We are so excited for you! Now, let’s continue discussing our awesome, giving Heavenly Father and discover how it is that we come by His giving Spirit naturally. As I continue, some of this may seem unrelated, but I think you will see how it all applies and comes together by the end. So hang with me while I go a little deeper.

As I mentioned earlier in the article, we were originally made to be an exact representation of God, but sin destroyed the image or likeness that God had originally placed into Adam and was meant for all of humanity to share. When Adam sinned, he couldn’t just say, “Ooops!” and continue on with life. There is no forgiveness of sin, without the shedding of blood. (Hebrews 9:22) No human being could reverse the sin nature that had entered through Adam’s disobedience. No amount of good behavior or following the Law of God could remove this permanent stain of sin. Not even the blood of bulls and goats could permanently reverse this sin problem in mankind. Since the sin nature was passed on to generation after generation, there was no person alive who could redeem us from the eternal death, destruction and torment that had been released through one bad decision. God never wanted this for the beautiful people He created, so when there was no one who was perfect and holy enough to atone for sin, God gave Himself. Enter Jesus…

“Because the blood of bulls and goats is powerless to take sins away.

Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];

In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight.

Then I said, Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God—[to fulfill] what is written of Me in the volume of the Book.

When He said just before, You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings—all of which are offered according to the Law—

He then went on to say, Behold, [here] I am, coming to do Your will. Thus He does away with and annuls the first (former) order [as a means of expiating sin] so that He might inaugurate and establish the second (latter) order.

And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).” – Hebrews 10:4-10 AMPC

In order for Jesus to be qualified to pay the penalty for our sin and redeem us from the sin nature, He had to become the second perfect man created in the earth. He could not be born of the seed of Adam, because Adam’s line was corrupted by sin. Now we can better understand the virgin birth! Jesus had to be born into the human race, but without the corrupted nature of sin through Adam’s seed. God provided the perfect seed, and Mary became the container to house it. Thus, Jesus was born without a sin nature. Adam began without a sin nature as well, but chose to disobey. Jesus, being the second perfect man to be born without a sin nature, still had to live a perfect life in complete obedience to the Father in order to be qualified to pay the penalty for our sin, in our place. He could not be our substitute, if He had sin of His own to die for. This is the great genius of God’s redemptive plan. You see, Jesus is what Adam was meant to be… and exact representation of God in the earth. Let’s look at what the Scripture says about Him...

“God, having spoken to the fathers long ago in [the voices and writings of] the prophets in many separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the truth], and in many ways,

has in these last days spoken [with finality] to us in [the person of One who is by His character and nature] His Son [namely Jesus], whom He appointed heir and lawful owner of all things, through whom also He created the universe [that is, the universe as a space-time-matter continuum].

The Son is the radiance and only expression of the glory of [our awesome] God [reflecting God’s Shekinah glory, the Light-being, the brilliant light of the divine], and the exact representation and perfect imprint of His [Father’s] essence, and upholding and maintaining and propelling all things [the entire physical and spiritual universe] by His powerful word [carrying the universe along to its predetermined goal]. When He [Himself and no other] had [by offering Himself on the cross as a sacrifice for sin] accomplished purification from sins and established our freedom from guilt, He sat down [revealing His completed work] at the right hand of the Majesty on high [revealing His Divine authority],

having become as much superior to angels, since He has inherited a more excellent and glorious name than they [that is, Son—the name above all names].” – Hebrews 1:1-4 AMP

If we look closely, we can see incredible similarities in the things given to Jesus, that were originally given to Adam before he fell. (Genesis 1:26-31) We see Jesus being the exact representation of God, made in the Father’s image and likeness, in all of His glory and perfect character and holy nature. He is given complete dominion and authority over heaven and earth. While it is not spoken of directly in this passage, but it is in other passages, through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus became fruitful and multiplied. We see this illustrated in John 15… Jesus is the Vine, and we are the branches creating even more fruit. Because He restored order and purified us from sin, it allowed us to be born again of His Spirit, thus reproducing Himself in us. Those who have believed and received the gift of salvation through the Son, have been created in Christ Jesus; an entirely new creation. In fact, we have been created specifically in Christ for good works. (Ephesians 2:10) This is the whole point of this article.

I want us to carefully notice that there was so much unity between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit while Jesus was on the earth, that Jesus Himself said…

“...“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself [of His own accord], unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever things the Father does, the Son [in His turn] also does in the same way.

For the Father dearly loves the Son and shows Him everything that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will be filled with wonder.

Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life [and allows them to live on], even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.” – John 5:19-21 AMP

This is how Jesus conducted His life on earth. Through the Holy Spirit, the Father was divinely directing His Son in every aspect of His life, actions, and words. Jesus declared that anyone who had seen Him had seen the Father in action. (John 14:9) This is what Jesus was made to do, to reflect the Father’s heart, character and personality for the entire world to see. He made the invisible God visible. (Colossians 1:15)

Let’s take a look at what else Jesus said about His unity with the Father…

“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you I do not say on My own initiative or authority, but the Father, abiding continually in Me, does His works [His attesting miracles and acts of power].

Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe [Me] because of the [very] works themselves [which you have witnessed].” – John 14:10-11 AMP

This is Jesus reflecting and manifesting the will and heart of the Father. Now, what Jesus says next is what is really incredible. Remember, that we are talking about what man was supposed to be in the first place… a reflection of God in the earth, representing His heart of love, and His holy and righteous character, and His personality and authority to rule and reign over every created thing in glory. Adam failed at his assignment and purpose, but Jesus is the perfect example of how mankind was to work in unity with the Godhead in everything. Get a hold of Jesus’ next statement in John 14…

“I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.

And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I Am], so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son.

[Yes] I will grant [I Myself will do for you] whatever you shall ask in My Name [as presenting all that I Am].” – John 14:12-14 AMP

Now this blows my mind... The one who believes in, trusts in, and relies on Jesus, in perfect unity with Him through the Holy Spirit (in the same way Jesus functioned in perfect unity with the Father and the Spirit), will do exactly like Jesus did in all their doings. This is important, as this is how the believer is gifted to live life.

Let’s look at one more awesome thing in Scripture, before we bring this article to a close. It is Jesus’ own prayer. This prayer was prayed to the Father by Jesus just prior to Him going to the cross. It was prayed in regard to His close friends and disciples, but you will see that this very powerful prayer includes everyone who believes in Him because of their testimony. Look at the unity that God desires for us all to have with Him and with one another. This was the entire point and necessity of the cross.

“I do not pray for these alone [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for [all] those who [will ever] believe and trust in Me through their message,

that they all may be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe [without any doubt] that You sent Me.

I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one, just as We are one;

I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected and completed into one, so that the world may know [without any doubt] that You sent Me, and [that You] have loved them, just as You have loved Me.” – John 17:20-23 AMP

Friends, this is the big heart of God the Father, that we would be in complete unity with the One who created us, and the One who gave up His own life for us. We were always meant to reflect the glory of the Godhead. Jesus made it possible for us to be free of the sin that marred that perfect image. As a believer in Jesus Christ, we are unified together with the Godhead as one spirit.

“But the one who is united and joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” – 1 Corinthians 6:17 AMP

This is truly amazing that God would care about us this much, that He would want to share all that He is with us.

Now, let’s bring this article back around full circle. We have seen that we were meant to be just like God in His complete image and likeness, and a reflection of Him in all of our ways. Because God is the biggest giver through His true heart of love, we were meant to be just like Him. We’ve seen many different and amazing ways that God has given, and we haven’t even scratched the surface. The key thing we need to understand is that a loving heart is a giving heart. This is our God… the God that we, as believers, have become united together with as one spirit. He is a generous and loving giver, and our born-again spirit is created in Christ Jesus to be just like Him in every way. This was a huge revelation to me.

I am created in the perfect image of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. My spiritual DNA is a generous giver. I have never needed anyone to condemn me or guilt me into giving. I never even had to have a “widow’s mite” mentality either, as she was a woman under the Law, and under obligation to give as a temple giver. While she was obedient, and Jesus noticed that she gave all she had out of her poverty, in contrast to those that gave out of their overflow, she was still a sinner, and not a blood bought, redeemed child of God, filled with His generous Spirit. Years ago, what I needed, and still need today, is to be constantly reminded of the generous Spirit of God who lives in me and guides me into cheerful giving.

I have discovered that the more my eyes are focused on the heart of my Lord within me, the more generous and cheerful I have become as a giver. I am no longer selfish, or self-preserving, because sin is no longer my nature. I no longer have to hoard or scrimp, or give out of a poverty mindset. My Father did not withhold His most important thing from me...Jesus. Therefore, I can trust that He will never withhold anything lesser from me. I do not have to be talked into or coerced into giving, because “The Giver” tells me when to give. I never have to feel pressured into giving, because God has never given under pressure. This is how I know whether I am being lured by deceit or covetousness.

Since I am unified with Jesus, and filled with the same Holy Spirit, I do nothing unless I see Him doing something, or I sense His joy-filled leaping to give on the inside of me. When my heart leaps for joy to give, when I see His heart of compassion and I get excited about it, when I can’t wait to open my heart, my wallet, my time, or anything else, then I know with confidence that it is Him, and it is not painful to give.  Because we are unified in spirit and I do life together with my Lord, I have become an amazing giver, because He is an amazing giver through me.

Yes... Giving...I come by it naturally! It is my nature, because it is His!

We would like to encourage you to write this date down somewhere important to you. Many people like to write the date of their salvation on the inside cover of their Bible. I can’t stress enough how important this is to do. Not only does it help you remember the day you became a Child of God, but it is a marker of your New Birth, like a birth certificate, which is a legal proof of your existence.

This date or marker is important because, as we have discovered in this article, there actually is a devil. Since he is a spirit, he has an ability to speak to our minds by way of deceptive thoughts. I can almost guarantee that there will come a time when a suggestive thought will come to your mind that will cause you to question whether you are really saved or not. This is where that date recorded or marker or New Birth certificate becomes important. You can simply go back to your Bible or wherever you wrote it down, and remind yourself, or say to the devil...”Nope, you’re wrong! This date is the day I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, the day of my New Birth, the day I became a Child of God, the day I was forgiven and saved, the day my name was written in the Lamb’s book of life...end of discussion!”
